Pro-Ject´s New Range Of Turntables

Sometimes a product comes along that really hits the spot, delivering a combination of performance and value that shakes up the hi-fi world. Pro-Ject Audio Systems has, of course, produced many game-changers over its long lifetime too, starting with its very first turntable, the Pro-Ject 1 from 1991.

Pro-Ject have recently released some new ones, the Classic Evo, the X1 and the X2.

The Classic Evo takes the successful EISA Award winner, The Classic, and the iconic 175 VPO turntable to bring out a turntable that sounds substantially better than its predecessors. The main improvement is the sub-platter and an electronic speed change to allow switching from 33 to 45 rpm with the push of a button. Compared to the old Classic, the Classic Evo is heavier and stiffer to reduce resonances.

The X1 is based on the same concept as the Pro-Ject 1, but improved in every aspect thanks to modern materials and new production methods. Including a better; chassis, platter, motor isolation, tonearm, counter weight, cartridge and more! The X1 has really made a substantial improvement in every way over the P1. Now, as then, the formula is a basic belt-drive, manual turntable designed in a way that makes it both easy to use and cost effective to make – in other words, less is more. The deck comes pre-fitted with Pro-Ject's new 'Pick-it S2' MM cartridge, so there's no need for fiddly alignment before you use the deck for the first time.

The X2 is carefully tuned to offer only audio-focused features for the best possible price, and due to Pro-Ject's decades-long experience in analogue technologies, it‘s hand-assembled by a European-based factory you can trust. Every effort has been made throughout to not cut corners on cost or sonic ability and the end result is a highly engaging, musical turntable. The X2 proves that, since 1991, their same core philosophies are those that guarantee to make music lovers happy with every new vinyl record they take for a spin.
