DSP is Digital Signal Processing, and in the audio realm refers to the manipulation done in the digital domain to an audio signal.

DSP is a technology which has radically changed the way we think about high end audio systems over the last 5 years. Room Correction is still a quickly changing technology with DSP significantly improving as processing power increases.

Room correction is particularly important for home theater applications, where control of low frequencies is quite important.

This can range from simple room correction with EQ and phase to the likes of Yamaha's sound field processing, which directs sound in real time to speakers known locations around the room, to give a cohesive, bubble of sound effect.
